Gut lining support
Is Your Gut Trying to Tell You Something?
Support your gut lining with 6,000mg L-glutamine and soothing botanicals*
Your intestinal lining decides what gets into your body and what stays out. Here's what the research says about that barrier, the ingredients in Gut Renew, and how to fit it into your morning.
The short version
- Your intestinal lining is selectively permeable: it lets nutrients through and keeps unwanted particles out.1
- "Leaky gut" is a popular term, not a medical diagnosis. Researchers call it increased intestinal permeability and are still working out what it means for everyday symptoms.
- L-glutamine is a primary fuel for the cells that line your intestine, which renew every few days.2,9
- Gut Renew pairs 6,000mg L-glutamine with aloe, marshmallow root, ginger, DGL licorice and N-acetyl D-glucosamine to support gut lining integrity.*
Signs your gut lining may need support
These are some of the everyday signs that lead people to look at gut lining support. None of them is specific: each has many possible causes, and the research linking the gut barrier to symptoms outside the gut (like skin, energy and joints) is still early.
After meals
Occasional bloating
Feeling full and puffy after eating, or irregular bowel habits.
Upper GI
Occasional heartburn
That burning feeling after certain meals or when you lie down.
Food
More foods bother you
Foods you used to handle fine now leave you uncomfortable.
Beyond the gut
Feeling "off"
Brain fog, low energy, skin or joint discomfort despite eating well.
When to see your provider first
Frequent or severe heartburn, ongoing diarrhea or constipation, blood in the stool, unexplained weight loss, or symptoms that keep getting worse all deserve a medical evaluation, not a supplement.

Your next step
Check in with your provider first
Frequent, severe or worsening symptoms deserve a proper evaluation before you add a supplement. Once you've ruled out anything that needs care, Gut Renew can be part of your daily routine to support gut lining integrity.*
Your next step
Start with the soothing blend
L-glutamine, DGL licorice and aloe vera have all been studied for occasional heartburn and acid reflux comfort.* Gut Renew brings them together, taken on an empty stomach in the morning. Our acid reflux guide covers the research and the habits that help.
Your next step
Gut Renew Powder, plus a probiotic
The powder gives you the full 6,000mg of L-glutamine per scoop, mixed into water first thing in the morning.* Since you don't take a probiotic yet, add one later in the day: Gut Renew supports the lining, and probiotics support the bacteria that live there.*
Your next step
Stick Packs, plus a probiotic
Same 6,000mg of L-glutamine as the powder, pre-measured for travel and busy mornings.* Since you don't take a probiotic yet, add one later in the day to support the bacteria that live along your gut lining.*
Your next step
Capsules, plus a probiotic
The capsules carry 1,800mg of L-glutamine with the same supporting ingredients, no mixing needed. Since you don't take a probiotic yet, add one to support the bacteria that live along your gut lining.*
Your next step
Add Gut Renew Powder
You already have the bacteria side covered. Gut Renew Powder adds the lining side: 6,000mg of L-glutamine plus soothing botanicals, taken on an empty stomach before your probiotic.*
Your next step
Add Gut Renew Stick Packs
You already have the bacteria side covered. The stick packs add the lining side in a pre-measured, travel-ready format: 6,000mg of L-glutamine plus soothing botanicals.*
Your next step
Add Gut Renew Capsules
You already have the bacteria side covered. The capsules add the lining side with no mixing: 1,800mg of L-glutamine with the same supporting ingredients.*
What is "leaky gut"?
Your intestinal lining is designed to be selectively permeable, letting nutrients through while keeping unwanted particles out. Research on intestinal permeability shows that when this barrier is compromised, gaps between cells can let undigested food particles, toxins and bacteria pass into the bloodstream, where they may trigger an immune response.1
"Leaky gut" is the popular name for this. It isn't a recognized medical diagnosis, and scientists are still studying how much everyday permeability changes matter for how you feel. What's well established is that the lining is worth supporting.
This is where L-glutamine comes in. As the most abundant amino acid in the body, glutamine serves as a primary fuel source for the cells that line your intestinal wall, supporting their renewal and the tight junctions between them.2*
Intact barrier
Healthy gut lining
Tight junctions between cells control what passes through. Nutrients enter; unwanted particles stay out.
Increased permeability
Compromised gut lining
Gaps between cells let unwanted particles pass through, which can prompt an immune response.1
The Gut Renew formula
Every serving combines a full 6,000mg dose of L-glutamine with five supporting ingredients chosen for their gut-soothing properties.*
6,000mg per serving
L-Glutamine
A building block for intestinal cells.* A 2017 review describes glutamine as a major nutrient for the gut barrier, though most of the supporting data is experimental and more clinical studies are needed.3
Soothing botanical
Organic Aloe Vera
Soothes and coats the digestive tract.* In animal and cell studies, processed aloe vera gel supported intestinal tight junction integrity.4
Organic extract
Marshmallow Root
Its mucilage coats the digestive tract for added comfort.* In lab studies, its polysaccharides were taken up by epithelial cells and stimulated their activity.5
Warming botanical
Organic Ginger Root
Calms occasional digestive discomfort.* In healthy adults, ginger supported healthy gastric emptying and motility.6
Deglycyrrhizinated
DGL Licorice Root
Supports stomach comfort without the side effects of regular licorice.* Early research found DGL helped protect the stomach lining from aspirin-related irritation.7
Mucosal support
N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine
A building block for the gut's protective mucosal layer, supporting healthy intestinal barrier function.* A small pilot study looked at it as a nutritional substrate for that layer.8
Several of these ingredients, particularly L-glutamine, DGL licorice and aloe vera, have also been studied for their role in supporting occasional heartburn and acid reflux comfort. For a deeper look at that research, see our guide on probiotics for acid reflux.

Frequently asked questions
"Leaky gut" is a popular name for increased intestinal permeability. It isn't a recognized medical diagnosis. When the tight junctions between cells in the gut lining loosen, particles can pass through that normally wouldn't, which can prompt an immune response. Researchers are still studying how much this matters for everyday symptoms, so if you're dealing with ongoing digestive trouble, talk with your provider.
Everyone's gut is different. Some people notice a difference within the first 1-2 weeks; for others it takes 3-4 weeks of consistent daily use. We recommend committing to at least 30 days to give your gut lining steady support.*
Yes, and they complement each other. Take Gut Renew first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, then take your probiotic later with a meal or as directed. Gut Renew supports the gut lining, while probiotics support the beneficial bacteria living there.*
L-glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in your body and a primary fuel source for enterocytes, the cells that line your intestinal wall. These cells turn over rapidly, about every 3 to 4 days on average in humans,9 and glutamine helps support their renewal and maintenance. Gut Renew powder provides 6,000mg per serving.*
Gut Renew is formulated for daily use, and many people make it part of their ongoing gut health routine. The ingredients are gentle and well tolerated. As with any supplement, check with your healthcare provider if you have specific health concerns or are pregnant or nursing.
Gut Renew is free from GMOs, dairy, yeast, gluten, wheat, soy, tree nuts, shellfish and sugar. It's also vegan. If you have specific allergies or sensitivities, review the full ingredient list and check with your healthcare provider before starting any new supplement.
